After many hours spent searching the Internet I was delighted to come Cross this gem of a guest house that made a trip to the Maldives possible. As backpackers, resorts really weren't our style especially when you have to add on the cost of speed boat/sea plane transfers on top of food/accommodation. While staying on a local island seemed like the sensible option I was slightly concerned that we wouldn't be able to wear our swimwear at the beach, however what sold happy life to me was that it has its own beautiful private stretch of sand where you can wear what you want. Likewise on the excursions and boat trips that were included in our package every afternoon and enabled us to explore the beautiful reefs and aquatic life.
The rooms are modern spacious and clean and the food abundant, but what really made our stay was Hassan and his team - they were friendly, attentive and a wonderful source of knowledge and information.
The only thing stopping me from giving 5* is that the room was only cleaned once in the 5 days we were there with no change of towels or emptying of bins and also the beach could have done with a couple more sun loungers. But overall we felt like we had our very own slice of paradise.
When planning your trip I would also recommend factoring in that you will probably end up losing 2 days on the island as there is only 1 ferry from Male per day, leaving mid-afternoon and taking approximately 3 hours and returning you to the airport in the morning.—— SJM500
With my husband and our two little girls, I spent in this small guest house 10 wonderful days. The reception was great and during our holiday Hussan and his staff did not miss anything, trying to satisfy all our demands.
The rooms are basic, but very clean. The beach is wide and beautiful and all available to guests. The food is great and plentiful. Obviously we can not expect the variety of a resort: you eat mainly local seafood, rice, noodles and even good pasta cooked in various ways.
Sea, coral reefs, dolphins, sandbank, sea turtles and the availability of the locals make the holiday memorable.
A special thanks to Fausto, Peter and Banboo who, with great patience and kindness, spent so much time with our daughters, Arianna e Camilla, satisfying their every whim!!!—— roberta b
Abbiamo scoperto Happy Life tramite le recensioni e navigando in internet.
I travelled to the Maldives as a solo traveller and was keen to avoid big resorts and lots of honeymooning couples. Happy Life was exactly what I was looking for. The guesthouse only has 4 rooms and so you get a personal, friendly service, and is situated on a local island (the only guesthouse on the island) so you get to experience some real Maldivian culture but with a private beach that you can sunbathe on without causing offence to the locals. The room was large, air conditioned and en-suite. The food was excellent, with lots of freshly caught fish on the menu and I left Dhiffushi Island feeling like the staff there were my friends. The local people were extremely friendly and welcoming and we were invited along to the local drum practice, night fishing and even a wedding party on the Island. The beachs are beautiful, with white sands, crystal clear blue seas, sunny skis and palm trees. The guesthouse provides snorkelling equipment, a sea kayak and other activities free of charge and other things, like diving can be easily arranged. Apparently, it is also a good spot to stay for surfers. I was met at the airport and given a bit of a tour around Male before catching the local ferry across to the Island - the staff made this all very easy and hassle free - and of course catching a local ferry was a lot cheaper than the speedboat transfers necessary to get to most resorts.—— riverxgirl
I spent together with my girlfriend 12 days during Christmas Time (December 12’).
It is a very amazing place to spend holidays. People are so friendly and helpful. You feel yourself like at home.
The guest house is situated on a local island (the only guesthouse on the island) so you get to experience some real Maldivian culture but with a private beach . We enjoyed the beach like a private beach ‘cause most of the time my girlfriend and myself were the “owners” of the beach, being no one in the beach
It’s really relaxing place, most of the times we lost the perception of the time and this was absolutely great.
The local people were extremely friendly and welcoming and we were invited along to the local drum practice, night fishing and even a wedding party on the Island. The beaches are beautiful, with white sands, dolphins, Asdu Island Trip, crystal clear blue seas, and palm trees. The guesthouse provides snorkelling equipment, a sea kayak and other activities free of charge and other things, like diving can be easily arranged. The food was really good! The rooms were very comfortable!
Hassan and his Staff really took care of us like members of his family rather than simple guests.
The trips organized by Hassan were unforgettable! Many thanks to Hassan, the “italian Chef”, Baboo, Bale and all the Happy Life Maldives team! They made to feel us at home in a Paradise such as Dhiffushi.
It’s just for 10 days that we came back to our ordinary life in Europe and we are missing so much this place, local people, Hassan and his entire staff.
We are pretty aware that unfortunately it will be really complicated to find other beaches , sea colors, fishes, atmosphere, relaxing time such those we got and enjoyed in Dhiffushi so definitely we will have to come back there sooner or later.
For sure if we will decide to come back to Maldive we will definitely visit this place again in future and we will enjoy again the island and Hassan Staff.
Thanks a lot to Hassan and his Staff for everything

Lange Rede kurzer Sinn. Ich kann die Happy Life Maldives Lodge uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
Eine unvergessliche Zeit ist garantiert.—— TobiasS157
We visited for a total of 3 nights, and absolutely loved it. The food was delicious and the staff at the guest house ensure that we had everything that we needed. The rooms are unpretentious but very tastefully done - upstairs ones are nicer and more private. We went for the all-inclusive package, and did not spend a single cent more than what we paid at the beginning. The activities included were more than enough!
We went snorkeling, took a morning trip to a sandbank (tide dependent), and had a beach dinner on the last night which was lovely and very romantic. We also used the kayak that is available for guests - it feels very safe and the water is incredibly calm. Walking around the island is a pleasure, and the locals are really friendly.
If you are not used to Indian style bathrooms (shower not separated from toilet), it might be a bit inconvenient. Also, during low tide the water is a bit smelly, but nothing that you cannot manage. Fresh bottled water is provided daily, and the AC works perfectly fine.
Overall, we highly recommend the place. It is a privilege to stay at a local island and have a more authentic experience than what you'd get at a lower end resort. Value for money is very good, especially in a place like the Maldives!!—— lamayac
We stayed as a family of 4. Not cheap, but it offered what we wanted.
We had a bad start with the pick up boat being 1.5 hours late. Puzzling when we'd paid 230 dollars for a one hour journey. We were disappointed not to be offered any compensation.
When we arrived, the welcome, service and location were marvellous.
The food was also great.
We had free tours, having paid a high inclusive price and were rewarded with a great time.
The weather was a bit rainy. The limiting factor in our stay was the Mosquitos. Our rooms were the only respite- I think in the wetter season this is something the team should think about.
Staff were friendly and helpful. If we needed something and asked then we got it quickly. Their ability to foresee needs and act can probably improve.—— Gacco29
Top marks to this place, good food , very friendly staff ,kind and caring you would have to be very fussy not to take to these people, it's small island with small community feel, they make a lot of effort to look after you and there hospitality is genuine ,every person about to embark on opening such a place should come here for the master Class, place has genuine magical calmness , lots of love and care all about it , very high ratio of staff to customers , I run a b and b myself in England so I am aware that running such a place is not easy , well done keep up the good work , you are a credit to the Maldives—— malcs52
